Our client is a leading organisation in accounting, audit, tax, corporate services and business advisory.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Be responsible for the daily management of the AML/CFT function within the Group and reporting to the board of directors of the Group and the respective subsidiaries;
  • Receipt of internal reports and reporting of suspicious transactions and activity to the authorities;
  • Periodical reporting to the FIAU and the MFSA;
  • Guide and assist the Compliance Officers appointed for Group entities;
  • Coordinate all matters relating to financial crime compliance within the Group (including not only AML/CFT, but also sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption);
  • Assess of financial crime risk at a Group level and at an entity level;
  • Conduct a de-risking exercise based on the findings of the risk assessment;
  • Regular monitoring of internal processes to ensure that all procedures are being followed and implemented;
  • Check periodically the level of due diligence being performed within the Group and separate entities, including spot-checks. Responsibility for remediation where gaps are identified;
  • Draft and update policies and procedures;
  • Set up of systems across the Group to ensure that regular communication and continuous updating of relevant changes are shared with other entities;
  • Manage projects relating to the adoption of compliance software applications and the migration of data thereto;
  • Develop and deliver effective training programmes to support client-facing employees in keeping current with developments on AML/CFT matters;
  • Act as a point of reference in keeping every entity within the Group, that is a Subject Person, in check to prevent breaching of AML/CFT rules and regulations and other applicable rules;
  • Provide information on customer risk to the Directors of the Group’s Subject Persons so that decisions can be taken as to whether potential clients should be onboarded or otherwise, or whether current clients should be exited;
  • Participate in meetings and provide all the information necessary for decisions to be taken on whether to onboard or retain clients;
  • Keep up to date with typologies and trends in financial crime matters;
  • Train and mentor employees who have been identified as potential candidates to assist and deputise the Group MLRO and AML Compliance Manager.


  • Have at least 5 years of experience in an AML/CFT role;
  • Candidates who have already occupied the role of MLRO will be given preference;
  • Hold an university degree or equivalent qualification in a related field;
  • Have working knowledge of the laws governing the prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism in Malta, the FIAU Implementing Procedures, the relevant EU legislation, and the international standards;
  • Have excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
