Job Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide legal guidance on deeds of borrowing and related matters, including the perfection of securities;
• Advise and collaborate with internal departments regarding borrowing facilities;
• Manage legal documentation, including drafting and reviewing contracts and agreements as required;
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external legal representatives acting on behalf of the Bank;
• Represent the Bank in notarial deeds of loan, waivers, and other banking facility matters;
• Advise on legal actions and strategies in cases involving defaulting clients;
• Conduct legal research and provide support to other departments on various legal matters as needed;
• Assist the Compliance Officer with regulatory and compliance-related tasks when required;
• Stay informed of changes in legislation and regulations relevant to the role.

Experience

• Hold a Doctorate of Law with strong knowledge of corporate, commercial law, and the real estate sector;
• Must be licensed to practice law in Malta and possess excellent command of both English and Maltese;
• Prior experience in a credit institution, legal department, or notarial office is preferred.

• Effective communicator, confident in liaising with external counsel and regulatory authorities on legal and compliance matters.
