Our client is a boutique accounting and auditing firm.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

• Review and approve accounting work prepared by team members, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and internal procedures;
• Provide clear, constructive feedback and ensure that required corrections are implemented in a timely manner;
• Monitor and balance team workloads to maintain efficiency and meet operational priorities;
• Deliver ongoing coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training to support team development;
• Support team members in resolving complex accounting and technical matters;
• Escalate performance issues or skills gaps to the Head of Accounting, together with development recommendations;
• Ensure statutory deadlines, internal timelines, and monthly targets are consistently met;
• Oversee the timely preparation and issuance of client invoices and monitor achievement of monthly billing targets;
• Track outstanding receivables and actively follow up on overdue balances;
• Communicate with clients as required to resolve billing queries or payment delays;
• Support the Head of Accounting with ad hoc assignments, reporting requirements, and departmental initiatives;
• Assist with workflow planning and resource allocation within the accounting function;
• Stay up to date with accounting standards, VAT regulations, and relevant legislative developments;
• Visit client premises when required to carry out accounting-related duties.

Experience

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent);
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting frameworks and regulatory requirements;
• A minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience working with Maltese legislation and local regulatory obligations;
• Experience managing multiple client engagements simultaneously;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and relevant accounting or audit software.
