Job Overview

We are seeking a versatile and motivated Part Qualified Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of accounting tasks, providing essential support in financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger management. This role is ideal for a proactive self-starter who is working towards their professional accounting qualification and looking to gain comprehensive experience in various aspects of accounting.

What you’ll be doing:

• Financial Reporting:
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information.
  • Support in the preparation of management accounts and reports for internal stakeholders.
• Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets.
  • Participate in the preparation of financial forecasts and variance analysis.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial performance.
• General Ledger Management:
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Post journal entries and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable:
  • Oversee the processing of invoices and payments.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and handle queries.
  • Manage customer invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.
• Tax Compliance:
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Support in ensuring compliance with tax regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Assist in liaising with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Cash Flow Management:
  • Monitor and manage daily cash flow.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and reports.
• Financial Analysis:
  • Conduct financial analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Provide detailed analysis of financial data and trends.
• Audit Support:
  • Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits.
  • Provide documentation and support to auditors as required.
• Process Improvement:
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and controls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Experience and skills that will aid success:

• Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) actively working towards full qualification;
• Minimum of 3 to 4 years of relevant accounting experience;
• Experience with accounting software (preferably Xero) and advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy;
• Good organisational and time-management abilities;
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills;
• Ability to work without supervision and collaboratively;
• Knowledge of current accounting standards and regulations;
• Proactive, adaptable, and self-motivated;
• Strong ethical standards and professionalism;
• Eager to learn and develop with a positive attitude.

This is a Malta-based contractor role, so we can only accept applications from candidates who have the right to work in Malta. Initially this role will be temporary with the aim of going permanent.
