Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with the CEO to deliver proactive and strategic plans and schedules;
  • Work with the CEO and other Divisions in the development and implementation of the company’s annual financial plan;
  • Work with the CEO in the formulation and development of financial policies, procedures, and programmes;
  • Direct the operations of the Finance Division within the company and ensure that these are in support of the company’s business and processes;
  • Oversee the financial management of the Finance Division and ensure its operations are within the company’s budget;
  • Plan, organize, control and direct all financial operations and activities;
  • Ensure that adequate financial controls are set in place and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all financial activities/expenditures pass independent and governmental audits;
  • Analyse and review budgetary and financial data and controls and authorize expenditures in accordance with established limitations;
  • Oversee all purchasing and payroll activity;
  • Oversee all payments pertaining to client claims resulting from incentive schemes;
  • Monitor and oversee all banking activities;
  • Ensure a continuous and adequate cash flow to meet the company’s needs;
  • Establish, manage, and coordinate all fiscal reporting activities and ensure that these are continuously updated;
  • Participate in the analysis of trends to identify opportunity for expansion and projections of future company growth;
  • Analyse trends to identify and promote opportunities for cost-efficiency;
  • Escalate any unusual/disquieting financial trends, and recommend appropriate corrective action as appropriate;
  • Provide high-level financial expertise, information, and assistance to Senior Management;
  • Provide input and participate in procurement and contract processes;
  • Assist and participate in internal and/or external audits as appropriate;
  • Maintain and develop a financial strategy to achieve organizational objectives;
  • Establish and implement policies and standards related to finance;
  • Provide financial advice to Senior Management in the formulation and implementation of policies to ensure that the company and its employees comply with required laws and regulations;
  • Ensure compliance by the company with all legal and statutory requirements;
  • Recommend appropriate changes to business and enterprise support legislation that facilitate the attainment of the company’s strategic objectives;
  • Investigate compliance issues and coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries or examinations;
  • Monitor and coordinate contractual matters to ensure their swift and effective resolution;
  • Represent the company and its Senior Management in financial matters;
  • Provide financial advice to the company’s Management on related legislation;
  • Review, introduce, and manage robust tenant and lease administration framework, including legal and contractual matters, to secure optimal return on investment;
  • Review and amend contracts to ensure most appropriate measures to safeguard the company’s rights;
  • Review contractual documents as requested;
  • Manage the business of the Finance Division and ensure its smooth running;
  • Provide leadership to employees within Finance Division;
  • Draw up the business plan for the Finance Division;
  • Identify KPIs and Key Performance Targets of the Finance Division;
  • Secure quality benchmarks and reviews to ensure excellence within the Finance Division;
  • Provide input and advice to other work colleagues as may be required;
  • Provide training to employees on financial topics and financial best practices;
  • Prepare and present reports and other documentation to Senior Management as necessary;
  • Attend briefings and meetings as necessary;
  • Carry out any other duties that may be required from time to time.


  • Have a solid background in Financial Management, or another related background;
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field;
  • Possess a minimum of five years working in a relevant area;
  • Possess a Warrant to practice as Accountant as regulated by the provisions of the Accountancy Profession Act (Cap. 281 of the Laws of Malta).
