On behalf of our client, a top-tier, rapidly growing transportation company, with a a focus on high-value transportation investments in shipping, intermodal aviation and rail, is seeking to hire a Corporate Treasury Payments Officer with at least 3 years of relevant work experience. Candidates with varying levels of relevant work experience will be considered.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Be part of the payments team reporting to the Payments Manager and/or Treasury Manager.
- Support the execution of weekly payment cycles through the treasury management system or banking portals ensuring sufficient funds are available in the asset-owning entities in the structure for execution of payments.
- Track effective payment execution and report to the Payments Manager of any issues as well as proposing a course of action.
- Support the Payments Manager and Treasury Manager with daily liquidity and funding requirements – planning and executing funding payments or withdrawals from various entities within the Group’s banks to maintain liquidity, and minimize interest costs.
- Monitoring cash balances and transactions, effect controlled independent callbacks for new beneficiaries and creating payment templates, in line with approved treasury procedures.
- Maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, internal and external.
- Assist with monthly management reporting on cash balances by account, type, including the reporting of cash returns and trends.
- Assist with debt facilities management, ensuring loan records are up to date.
- Support the Payments Manager and Treasury Manager with treasury management system implementation requirements pertaining to payment processes and controls.
- Support the Payments Manager in the communication with the various banking partners, covering among others the opening & closing of bank accounts, handling of issues, and fulfilling KYC requirements.
- Support the Payments Manager in providing data for the treasury team’s cash flow forecasting and planning.
- At all times adhere to internal policies and procedures of the Treasury Department and the Group.
- Any other ad-hoc tasks assigned from time to time by the Payments Manager and/or Treasury Manager.
Job Requirements
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)– excellent knowledge of the English language is expected with the ability to interact with key stakeholders.
- At least 3 years of previous experience as a treasury or payments officer, ideally in the shipping industry.
- Demonstrable strong performance record.
- Proactive, diligent, reliable, driven and self-motivated, with the willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong multi-tasking and organisational skills, delivering quality results within set deadlines.
- Willingness to develop professionally through ongoing feedback and quality improvement initiatives.
- Competent with new technologies (automation, new system rollouts).
- Rigorous, methodical, analytical.
- Understanding of finance, accounting rules etc. A prior maritime industry background is desirable but not essential.
- Team collaborator that builds long-term relationships.
